3mm Chair Cane for chair making and basketry.

Centre Cane is flat cane made from the rattan plant. It can be extremely brittle when dry but is very strong when damp, therefore before working with any cane you should give it a quick dunk (or 5 minute bath) in water and wrap it in a damp cloth and let it soak up the damp for 15 minutes. You can also plunge it in a bucket and wait for the bubbles to stop rising. We recommend adding a drop of linseed oil (available in the painting section) to the water to help with flexibility. If it starts to dry out whilst working, just give it another wipe with a damp cloth to give it another boost of moisture.

The bundles are approx 250g but as this is a natural product the weight may vary due to moisture loss. Lengths vary between 2-3m
