Block print a hand-dyed cotton cushion panel using a wide choice of hand-carved Indian wooden printing blocks. Choose from traditional (elephants, peacocks and paisleys) or more contemporary designs. You will start with a practice session in the morning, getting used to the printing techniques, then design and print your cushion panel. This will then be heat-set with an iron, before beginning the hand embroidery and decoration with beads and sequins if you wish. I have used a combination of running stitch, back stitch, stem stitch and chain stitch on my design, so nothing too complicated. Full instructions will be given on how to complete the cushion.
All materials supplied. Please bring an apron to protect your clothes and a basic sewing kit if you have one.
This workshop is suitable for all levels.
A project to be finished at home.
Duration: 6 hours including one hour for lunch. Voucher provided for the adjacent cafe
Why not Dye the fabric for your cushion panel before you block print it in our Fabric Dyeing Course as well?
